Burjeel Hospital extends plan to 1000 free heart surgeries
The Hospital recently completed its 100th free heart surgery in memory of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for needy patients from MENA region and Indian Sub-Continent
United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi – 25 August 2014: Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi’s leading tertiary care facility recently announced the completion of its compassionate community initiative to provide 100 free cardiac surgeries dedicated to the memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. In addition, the hospital also announced the pledge for another 1000 free cardiac surgeries.
The additional 1000 free cardiac surgeries to be completed over the next 5 years will focus on the MENA region and Indian Sub-Continent for patients who are in need and cannot afford the surgery.
Dr. Shamsheer VP, Managing Director – VPS Healthcare said, “The late Sheikh Zayed dedicated his life to helping others. He was a father of the nation and well respected in the MENA region. We are proud to continue his legacy in the UAE and throughout the Middle East.”

Dr. Shamsheer also added, “The success of the 100 free heart surgeries initiative encouraged us to reach out and help the community further by offering another 1000 free cardiac surgeries.”
The initiative was performed by a dedicated medical team which consisted of 6 cardiologists, 3 cardiac surgeons, 2 cardiac anesthesiologists, 4 cardiac or technicians, and 10 nurses.
